The FTI GROUP gains the internationally operating resort developer and operator Samih Sawiris as shareholder. A long term cooperation between the Munich tour operator and Samih Sawiris, Chairman of the Board and major shareholder of Orascom Development Holding AG. “We profit from the additional hotel capacities which Orascom Development offer us. By expanding the hotel capacities we will be focusing on leisure hotels, as Orascom has always emphasis on the four and five star luxury hotel segment,” explains FTI GROUP Managing Director Dietmar Gunz.

Subject to regulatory approval, Samih Sawiris will assume a stake between 25 and 35 percent of the FTI GROUP.

Dietmar Gunz remains majority shareholder of the FTI GROUP. The parties have agreed not to disclose any information on the purchase price.

Sawiris is also investing in the RT/Raiffeisen Touristik Group GmbH in Burghausen. “We are aiming for a long term cooperation,” explains Sawiris.

ODH and the FTI GROUP have a large portfolio of hotel beds. The FTI GROUP daughter, Meeting Point International, will be operating in 20 destinations and 59 locations worldwide as a destination management company until the end of 2014.

As tour operator and through sales, the FTI GROUP and the RT/Raiffeisen Touristik Group contribute their know-how. “This ensures that we can cover the entire range of services of a trip – from booking to accommodation to guest relations.

Due to the numerous flight capacities available on the market, we can forego having our own airline,”
declares Gunz.
