On Thursday, Jean-François Martins, City Hall Deputy, and Pierre Schapira, President of the Tourism and Congress Office of Paris (OTCP) will sign a new Hospitality Charter for large congresses, with the managers of 15 hotels groups from Paris and its region, of the CCIP and UMIH .
It aims at helping Paris consolidate its position as a world leader in hosting congresses.
This charter, created in 2009, was renewed to best meet the new challenges that the sector is facing. Some of the thematics raised include: better management of hotel night reservations, improved predictability of the Terms and Conditions of Sale, simplified connecting with service providers.
In 2015, the Capital hosted more than 1,000 congresses and 400 trade fairs yielding €5 billion in economic benefits. These results represent a +2.9% increase in 2015 of the number of congresses and +9.6% in the number of convention delegates.
The congress sector alone also accounts for 1.2 billion euros in economic benefits in 2015 (representing a 7% increase compared to 2014.) In this respect, Paris is the world leader in hosting congresses.
