Gisèle Fray and Hélène De Zen, Managers of the Hagetmau tourism office told us more about these gourmet encounters.
“This is the 3rd year we are organizing these gourmet encounters. We put this product in place during the Fall in order to incite tourists to come in the off-season and help develop our clientele. We are mainly targeting couples.
We created weekends with accommodations and workshops. And there will be workshops everyday during the week.
The workshops will mostly talk about foie gras, of course, but also duck in general, patisseries, wine, and chocolate.
As for the weekends, we mainly worked with hoteliers who are accustomed to providing all-included offers such as the Lakes Hotel of Halco in Hagetmau or La Petite Couronne Hotel in St Cricq in Chalosse.
We are marketing these products as the Hagetmau tourism office but they were created together with the six tourism offices of Landes Chalosse.”
Here are a few examples of workshops and gourmet weekends…
- “Enologist apprentice” Workshop
Over the span of a workshop, neophytes and amateurs will unite to understand and familiarize themselves with Tursa wines. During 2 hours, Pascal will lead this instructive and friendly encounter. He will teach participants to distinguish the color, aromas, grape varieties and wine terroir.
Location: Landes winemakers cellar in Geaune, on Thursday October 13. €10 per person.
